Adults Social Worker – Newport City Council

Location:

NewportPAYE Rate: £20.98 per hour Umbrella Rate: £28.01 per hour

Service Care Solutions are seeking an experienced Adults Social Worker to join one of Newport City Council's NCN Managed Care Teams. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a busy and supportive adults' service, delivering strengths-based interventions that promote independence and wellbeing.

The role is based at Newport Civic Centre (subject to service requirements) and working throughout the Newport community. You will undertake strengths-based assessments, reviews, and short-term interventions in line with the Social Services and Well‑Being (Wales) Act. The role involves supporting adults of all ages living in their own homes, residential and nursing placements, and supported living settings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Completing strengths-based assessments and reviews
  • Managing a varied caseload of adults with complex needs
  • Undertaking risk assessments and implementing risk management plans
  • Promoting independence, wellbeing, and person-centred outcomes
  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation on electronic systems
  • Working collaboratively with families, carers, colleagues, and partner agencies
  • Delivering high-quality written reports and assessments
Requirements
  • Qualified Social Worker with current Social Care Wales registration
  • Experience with in a statutory adults' social work setting
  • Strong assessment and risk assessment skills
  • Excellent communication and report‑writing abilities
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
  • Experience working alongside families and carers
  • Flexible approach to meeting service demands
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
Working Arrangements

This role is primarily office and community based, with attendance expected between 4–5 days per week, depending on service requirements.
