Class 1 Driver - Newport, UK

Ongoing, Long Term booking,

Day rate £16.45

Night rate £18.48

We are seeking a dedicated and professional Class 1 Driver to join our team in Newport, contributing to our reputation for reliable and efficient service.

Job Responsibilities
  • Operate Class 1 (C+E) vehicles to transport goods across various locations in the UK.
  • Ensure timely and safe delivery of goods, adhering to scheduled routes and deadlines.
  • Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness and safety compliance.
  • Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, and vehicle logs in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Follow all health and safety regulations, including tachograph and driving hours legislation.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch and warehouse teams regarding delivery schedules and any issues encountered on the road.
  • Assist with loading and unloading goods when necessary, ensuring proper handling and securing of cargo.
  • Maintain a professional and courteous attitude when interacting with clients and colleagues.
Required

Skills & Qualifications
  • Valid UK Class 1 (C+E) driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points.
  • Digital Tachograph card and up-to-date CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence).
  • Previous experience driving Class 1 vehicles, ideally within a logistics or freight environment.
  • Strong knowledge of UK road networks and transportation regulations.
  • Excellent driving skills with a focus on safety and compliance.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage time effectively.
  • Ability to perform basic vehicle inspections and report any issues promptly.
  • Strong communication skills and a professional attitude.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends if required.
