How you make a differenceThe Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (Psych NP) provides psychiatric consultation, diagnostic, and treatment services to patients, including medication management and crisis intervention services, while adhering to established policy and procedure and state guidelines. Documentation required by state or facility guidelines is maintained to demonstrate compliance with supervision requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, develop plans of care, and evaluate effectiveness of interventions, including medication management and crisis intervention services.
- Maintain thorough documentation in compliance with organization policies and procedures, state guidelines, and best practices, including medication education, seclusion/restraint use, infection control, and risk management.
- Provide individualized care sensitive to the age and developmental needs of each patient.
- Participate in on‑call schedules and mandatory committees as required.
- Adhere to established formularies for therapeutic regimens and utilize procedures for admission, transfer, and specialty consultant referrals.
- Assume responsibility and accountability for individual judgments and actions, while supporting standards of psychiatric care and providing input into committees and meetings as requested.
- Graduation from an accredited nurse practitioner program.
- Two (2) years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner. Psychiatric experience preferred and/or experience in a residential healthcare institution.
- Certification as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in the state of practice highly desired.
- CPR certification and any other certifications (such as First Aid) required by contract.
