Newport Aquarium Exhibits Interpreter - Part Time Year Round

Join us as a Guest Experience Specialist to provide world‑class immersion experiences at the Newport Aquarium.

• Perform and adhere to Herschend Enterprises’ Core Values and Newport Aquarium Guest Service Standards, Policies and Procedures, and Safety Protocols.
• Maintain a positive attitude and appearance, arriving on time and ready for all scheduled shifts.
• Approach guests in a friendly manner to offer assistance and provide information about the Aquarium.
• Keep safety as a number one priority at all times while working at the Aquarium.
• Understand and follow policies and procedures relating to the Guest Service department.
• Collaborate with other team members and departments to ensure effective communication.
• Maintain knowledge of activities, aquatic life, and special events/promotions to properly notify and inform guests.
• Memorize and present tour scripts clearly and pleasantly, keeping the experience light and fun for every guest.
• Handle comments, concerns, and suggestions regarding policy and procedure from guests and team members.
• Take direction from and work with the animal husbandry team on daily husbandry duties and other assigned tasks.
• Educate guests on facts, encounters, and tours many times a day.
• Learn and demonstrate animal handling techniques.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Guest Service Management Team.

• Strong public speaking skills.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of other languages is a plus.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and evenings.
• Knowledge of marine life is a plus.

• Successful completion of a pre‑employment background check.
• No history of allergy related to animals or plants that might interfere with ability to work.
• Ability to remain stationary for long periods of time.
• Physical strength, including the ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
