Job Summary

The Strategy & Solutions BI Developer is responsible for engineering, testing, and deploying business intelligence and data solutions that create measurable business value. This role will lead and collaborate on solution development, optimize data processes, automate workflows, and deliver advanced insights for internal and external stakeholders. The developer will act as a technical expert, provide ongoing analytical and technical support, and continuously drive enhancements across BI tools, data processes, and reporting.

This position plays a key role in enabling data‑driven decision‑making and supporting operational excellence across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Solution Engineering & Automation
    • Design, develop, and support client‑facing solutions, APIs, and processes that enable rapid delivery of business capabilities.
    • Serve as a technical expert in system and application architecture.
    • Provide strategic recommendations and leadership across BI development and data engineering workflows.
    • Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement automation to increase efficiency.
    • Troubleshoot data integrity, system, and user issues to deliver positive outcomes.
  • Insights & Reporting
    • Utilize expertise across syndicated and corporate data sources to produce high‑value insights.
    • Support strategic decision‑making with actionable, data‑driven recommendations.
    • Develop, automate, and distribute reports using BI tools and analytics platforms.
  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
    • Partner with business and technical teams to define, document, and prioritize BI initiatives.
    • Stay current on industry and business trends that influence client and organizational priorities.
    • Represent the organization professionally with internal teams, Kroger stakeholders, and external partners.
  • Technical Knowledge, Training & Ongoing Learning
    • Optimize BI tools, systems, and reporting solutions by staying current on modern technologies and best practices.
    • Mentor and guide junior team members; provide training and technical support to end users.
    • Create and maintain technical documentation, including guides and process materials.
  • Project & Compliance Management
    • Manage multiple concurrent projects with minimal supervision.
    • Ensure adherence to data governance, security, and organizational compliance standards.
Requirements
  • Education:

    Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, Statistics, Economics, or related field preferred.
  • Experience
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in technical, analytical, or BI roles.
    • Experience with ETL, automation, and API integrations (e.g., Python, Alteryx).
    • Hands‑on experience with BI and reporting tools (Business Objects, Power Pivot, etc.).
    • Experience in a hybrid corporate environment.
    • Expertise with Microsoft Office 365 and data visualization tools;
      Power BI preferred.
    • Preferred experience with Kroger corporate systems and syndicated sources.
  • Skills
    • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to translate business needs into actionable solutions.
    • Proficient in MS SQL for querying, transformation, and reporting.
    • Expertise with Microsoft Office 365 and data visualization tools;
      Power BI preferred.
    • Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.
    • Proven ability to work independently, manage priorities, and build productive stakeholder relationships.
