The Ion Center for Violence Prevention is a non‑profit agency serving 13 Kentucky counties with the mission of providing the best care to people impacted by power‑based personal violence and measurably reducing the number of people hurt by it. All services are free and confidential.
About the RoleThe Residential Crisis Intervention Specialist (3rd Shift) works four days a week, either 9 pm‑7 am or 10 pm‑8 pm, depending on agency needs.
Job SummaryUnder the supervision of the Site and Program Management, the Specialist provides a full range of crisis intervention and case management services to primary and secondary survivors of crime, focusing on victims of partner violence, sexual violence, and stalking. The Specialist assists victims in working toward safety and self‑sufficiency.
Principal Duties and ResponsibilitiesIntake and Assessment:
- Maintain client confidentiality.
- Field crisis hotline calls, texts, and chat.
- Assess and identify client needs.
- Provide and connect clients with community resources.
- Assist clients with completing agency paperwork.
- Aide clients in developing safety plans.
Counseling and Case Management:
- Provide trauma‑informed individual, family, and/or group counseling.
- Educate survivors on topics relevant to partner violence, sexual violence, and stalking.
- Identify client individual goals related to benefits, childcare, education, budget, and housing needs.
- Transport clients to meet goals.
Advocacy:
- Provide support as clients navigate the legal system, including accompanying them to court, educating on legal procedures, and assisting with filing protection orders.
- Support Ion Center in providing essential services to victims, including hospital advocacy on call, hotline, and emergency shelter.
- Collaborate with community partners, law enforcement, medical staff, and social service agencies.
- Assist clients with crime victim compensation.
Communication, Teamwork, and Administration Duties:
- Maintain client files and documentation.
- Attend related meetings and trainings.
- Report statistics for funders.
- Accept and disseminate donations.
Other Duties:
Other duties may be assigned and may change at any time with or without notice.
Qualifications- Knowledge and skills typically acquired through a degree from an accredited college/university, or a high school diploma or equivalent and one to two years of related experience.
- Knowledge of Trauma‑Informed Care.
- Ability to work under highly stressful, crisis‑oriented situations.
- Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
- Outstanding empathetic and listening skills.
- Professional oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate on a team.
- Excellent problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
- Complete trainings for funding requirements and knowledge building.
- Must be a minimum age of 18.
- Speaking, seeing, hearing, standing, writing, walking, climbing steps, carrying, pulling, lifting, stooping, kneeling.
- Using office equipment: keyboard, monitor, camera, copier, fax, phones, etc.
- Possibility of exposure to infectious diseases and stressful situations.

This hourly position pays $20–$21.50 per hour, determined by education and experience.
