The Campus Recreation swim instruction position is established to teach people of all ages the importance of water safety and how to swim properly. This includes providing quality instruction for group and private swim lessons, knowledge of teaching methods and course requirements outlined by the American Red Cross Learn to Swim program. Swim instructors must maintain proper certifications and physical fitness required by industry standards.

All in-service training sessions and staff meetings are mandatory.

• Provide quality instruction for group and private swim lesson programs.
• Apply teaching methods and course requirements outlined by the American Red Cross Learn to Swim program.
• Keep records of students and classes taught and report all certifications to the Coordinator of Aquatics.

• Minimum of one year teaching swim lessons OR team teaching with another experienced instructor for at least 2‑4 sessions.
• Active lifeguard certification.
• Pre-employment criminal background check required (as mandated by state law).

Minimum Education Acceptable Equivalency Pay Rate: $13.50/hour without WSI Certification / $17.00/hour with WSI Certification.
