Medical Assistant; MA – Primary Care

Job Summary/Purpose

This position will receive an hourly differential in addition to the base hourly rate. Assists practitioner in performance of procedures, telephone prescription orders/refills, maintaining patient records and relaying test results.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Registered or Certified Medical Assistant required.
• Healthcare Provider BLS required.
• Previous medical back office experience/medical assistant training, or completion of a Medical Assistant/Certified Medical Assistant program preferred.
• Experience in applicable specialty area preferred.
• Lab/EKG experience preferred.

• Patient Care – Ability to recognize symptoms, drug properties and interactions, treatments and preventive health-care measures.
• Adaptability/Flexibility – Ability to respond quickly and appropriately to situations that may arise with high risk or diverse patient populations.
• Communication – Effective written and oral communication skills to explain complex issues, exchange information between team members and tactfully discuss issues.
• Team Building – Ability to work, function and communicate on a multi-disciplinary team and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships.
• Medical Terminology – Knowledge of medical records, procedures and terminology.
• Social Perceptiveness – Ability to work with a diverse population from pediatrics to geriatrics and possess personal sensitivity to the needs and experiences of others.
