Overview
Lincoln County Animal Shelter is seeking a new manager to lead the animal services operations during the shelter’s changes, support staff, and engage the community. This role will supervise, manage, and participate in all aspects of animal services operations. The incumbent will ensure proper care and attention is provided to all animals in the shelter’s custody in accordance with policies, procedures and applicable laws.
As the leader of the shelter, this role is responsible for planning, organizing, and developing programs within animal services operations.
$69,790.00 - $93,793.00 annually*

- Operational Oversight:
In consultation with the Sheriff and staff, develop and implement policies and procedures. Participate in all aspects of kennel operations, including but not limited to customer service, transport, cleaning, purchasing supplies, intake, outreach, adoptions, redemptions, licensing, euthanasia, and animal behavior modification and enrichment. - Employee Oversight:
Supervise and perform necessary animal services duties. - Administrative:
Work closely with veterinarians to develop and implement appropriate disease prevention, control, and health protocols for the shelter population. Responsible for preparing and controlling the budget. Work closely with other animal welfare and community organizations. Promote the Animal Shelter in a positive direction. Instrumental in media relations, fundraisers, and outreach programs.
High School Diploma / GED
ExperienceFour-five years dealing with the public and in the care and handling of animals, including but not limited to dogs and cats.
CertificationsMust obtain certificate issued by the State of Oregon to perform euthanasia within one year of employment.
Driver's LicenseOregon Driver's License required within 30 days of hire.
Knowledge- All aspects of animal services operations to include pertinent laws, rules, and regulations
- Animal care and handling as well as the ability to oversee and perform euthanasia
- Oversee and perform euthanasia.
- Prepare reports, budgets, and keep records.
- Operate motor vehicles.
- Convey information, ideas, and facts both orally and in writing to supervisors, colleagues, and individuals, inside and outside the county, using language and a format the audience will best understand.
- Utilize computers and other technology to communicate in written and verbal forms (e.g., word processing, texts, emails, spreadsheets, department-specific software).
- Effectively relate well with others, including supervisors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the county. Exhibit a professional manner in dealing with others and working to maintain constructive working relationships.
- Take personal responsibility for the quality and timeliness of work. Show up to work on time, and follow instructions, policies, and procedures. Meet productivity standards, deadlines, and work schedules.
