As a Lifeguard, you won’t just be watching the water, you'll be protecting lives, building community trust, and creating a safe and welcoming space for families, kids, and guests of all ages.

What You’ll Do

• Keep a watchful eye on patrons in and around the pool area.
• Be ready to jump into action with water rescues and first aid when needed.
• Educate guests on pool safety rules — and lead by example!
• Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment.
• Deliver excellent customer service to all visitors.

Qualifications

MINIMUM/MANDATORY

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Any equivalent combination of education and experience, which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the duties as described.

KNOWLEDGE
:
Knowledge of basic water safety. Knowledge of Lifeguard techniques, philosophies, and behaviors that are conducive to ensuring a safe aquatic environment.

SKILLS
:
Adequate swimming and water skills, skills in using typical rescue equipment, strong customer service skills. Basic water safety skills. Exceptional interpersonal skills, strong oral and written communications skills.

ABILITIES
:
Ability to establish and maintain an effective and professional working relationship with City management, supervisors, employees, and the public. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both orally and in writing.

Special Requirements
:
Certifications in CPR/ First Aid within 30 days of hire. Lifeguard certification within 30 days of hire. Knowledge of basic water safety at time of hire. Blood Borne Pathogen training required within 30 days of hire. Must be at least 16 years of age.
