Description:
Due to the critical nature of this position to provide services to children, EBCAP is offering a two-step sign-on bonus totaling $1,000 for external applicants.
EBCAP is seeking a full-time (40 hours per week), year-round (52 weeks) Special Services Assistant to join our team and provide a nurturing and safe classroom environment for children in the Head Start program in Newport. Responsibilities:
- Support the functioning of the special services component to ensure the identification of students with special needs per the Head Start Performance Standards.
- Ensure all children identified with special needs have appropriate special education and related services to meet their unique needs.
- Protect the rights of children with disabilities and their parents in accordance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.
- Provide support and coaching to classroom teachers to make appropriate accommodations and implement classroom strategies to meet children's individual needs.

Qualifications- Minimum of an associate’s degree in ECE or ECE special education.
- A bachelor’s degree is preferred, OR an AA or BA in a related field with experience with preschool children or other combination of education and experience is considered.
