Description:
East Bay Community Action Program (EBCAP) is seeking Part‑time (16 hours/week) and Per Diem (3 to 15 hours/week) Teacher Assistants for our Newport Family Child Opportunity Zone (NFCOZ) Programs. The NFCOZ provides services and referrals to Newport children and their families in school and community settings, in partnership with Newport Public Schools, parents, and the community.
How you will make an impact:
- Support Lead Teachers and Program Facilitators in before and after school licensed childcare, after school enrichment programs, and school vacation camps, working with students in grades K‑8.
- Assist in the supervision of students utilizing a positive approach and will maintain the philosophy and mission of the program.
- Greet enrolled students and assist in taking attendance, distributing snack, and dismissing students as assigned.
- Supervise students following all RIDHS, Bright Stars, Community Learning Center (CLC), EBCAP, Newport Public Schools and/or Middletown Public Schools policies and regulations and utilizing a positive discipline approach aligned with that of the school department.
- Greet parents/caregivers to maximize a positive experience within the school/after‑school setting.
- Assist lead teacher/staff in meeting the goals of the programs as assigned.
- Provide support to the lead teacher/staff in organizing activities, preparing materials and leading activities as assigned.

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED certification, and either formal training related to child or youth development or at least one year of supervised experience working with school‑age children in a group setting.
- Associate degree and/or Teacher Assistant Certification are preferred.
- Candidates who are bilingual in Spanish are strongly encouraged to apply.
