Cardiac Sonographer Per Diem

SUMMARY

Under the general supervision of the Echocardiography Supervisor, performs and interprets ultrasonic evaluations of the heart. All essential functions performed in this position reflect the age specific needs of the patients. • Performs M-mode and two‑dimensional echocardiography, Doppler echocardiography (pulsed, cw, color flow, exercise and contrast echocardiography), transesophageal, and intraoperative echocardiography.
• Explains echo cardiographic procedure to patients and answers any questions they may have.
• Provides safety and comfort to all patients in accordance with the prescribed standards.
• Assists in teaching cardiology fellows in the above techniques.
• Schedules cases in the absence of the Lead Cardiac Sonographer.
• Participates in data collection and analysis of research conducted by physician staff.
• Maintains level of knowledge and expertise in the professional disciplines and educational methodologies by continuing professional development and participating in ongoing independent study.
• Maintains quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control in accordance with established hospital department policies.
• Performs other related duties as required.

• BASIC KNOWLEDGE: Equivalent to two years of AMA‑recognized allied health occupation program of Bachelors Degree and successful completion of a Cardiac Ultrasound Training Program.
• Must be eligible to sit for the certificate examination offered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).
• Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span.
• EXPERIENCE: One year experience in Cardiac Ultrasound.

Healthcare environment such as acute care hospitals, physicians' offices and ancillary healthcare enterprises. Works with medical equipment, may be exposed to magnetic or high energy fields; has direct patient contact. Any potential hazards are minimized or nullified by adherence to established safety procedures and precautions including use safety equipment and protective clothing.

USD $38.78 – $64.00 per hour.
