Under the general supervision of the Lead MRI Technologist, the MRI Technologist operates a magnet‑resonance imaging unit to produce high‑quality images, collects and completes records, assists patients and radiologists, resolves minor equipment problems, performs calibration tests and quality control functions, and notifies services personnel as required. ResponsibilitiesDemonstrate understanding of the hospital’s mission, vision and values; understand job description, performance expectations and competency assessment plans; commit to meeting and exceeding customers’ needs while adhering to customer service standards. Comply with department and hospital policies and procedures, review policies, read employee handbook, complete mandatory education, participate in quality improvement activities, perform daily QA/reboot system, select appropriate technical factors for patients of all ages, screen patients and visitors for contraindications, appraise physical condition, communicate the examination to patients, obtain informed consent, record patient history, position patients for imaging, protect and immobilize patients, utilize technical equipment including PACS, RIS, film printer, power injection, and teleradiology systems, perform complex cross‑sectional imaging, prepare copies of scans, troubleshoot equipment problems, supervise radiological students, maintain knowledge of MRI field developments, and maintain sterile techniques and infection control.
May perform general X‑ray duties if licensed.
Registered Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) preferred; MRI (ARRT MR) certification required within 6 months of hire; current CPR certification (AHA BLS), prior MRI scanning experience preferred.
Physical requirements:
sit 1+ hrs, stand/squat 1–3 hrs, walk 1–3 hrs, lift 10–35 lbs; moderate twisting and bending; fine‑motor skill; vision 20/20 near, 20/40 far; hearing at three feet.
$38.78–$64.00 per hour.
