Summary

Performs routine diagnostic radiology procedures, including outpatient, emergency department, intraoperative, portable, C‑arm, inpatient, and fluoroscopic exams. Provides routine radiology services to patients of all ages, including neonates, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate understanding of the Hospital's Mission, Vision and Values.

  • Complete mandatory education:
    Hospital‑wide, Department‑specific, Job‑specific.
  • Comply with department policies, procedures, and protocols: review policies, Employee Handbook, and charge protocols.
  • Maintain current CPR certification.
  • Participate in department and interdepartmental quality improvement activities.
  • Provide a safe environment for patients, employees, and visitors: utilize lead shielding devices, radiation monitoring badges, coning devices; practice aseptic techniques, infection control, and radiation safety.
  • Transport patients safely and efficiently as needed.
  • Use lead markers at all times.
  • Conduct visual checks of equipment before each use to ensure safe condition.
  • Execute arthrograms and myelograms.
  • Perform C‑arm procedures and OR x‑rays.
  • Prepare rooms and assist radiologists with fistulograms and cystograms.

    Conduct GI studies, SBFTs, and IVPs for adults and children; prepare contrast and barium materials for adults, children, and infants.
  • Assist radiologists and OB/GYNs with hysterosalpingograms.
  • Load, unload, and process films through the processor; perform processor QC.
  • the CR unit and utilize the workstation.
  • Use the digital PAC system to retrieve and merge images.
  • Operate C‑Arms and portable x‑ray units.
  • Introduce yourself to patients, confirm names and exams.
  • Explain procedures to patients: adults, adolescents, children.
  • Set appropriate technique factors for properly exposed radiographs for all age groups.
  • Use immobilization or securing devices: pigostat for infants, papoose board for children, bed rails for adults.
  • Monitor patient condition during examinations.
  • Stock and clean the work area.
  • Complete all office functions, including RIS/SMS order entry and scheduling.
  • Quality‑assure and verify patients in the RIS.
  • Move film appropriately within the RIS system.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school graduation or equivalent with satisfactory completion of a two‑year formal radiologic technology program.
  • Meet the registry requirements of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Hold a valid State of Rhode Island Radiographer License.
  • Hold current CPR certification.
  • Be able to stand/squat 1–3 hours and walk 3–7 hours, perform frequent twisting and moderate bending, and lift over 50 lbs with good body mechanics.
  • Use both hands/wrists for frequent fine‑motor tasks with moderate repetitions.
  • Demonstrate accurate near and far vision at 20/40, depth perception, and color discrimination between red‑green and blue‑violet.
  • Hear a whisper at eight feet.
Pay Range

$30.39 – $50.16 per hour
