Summary
Under the general supervision of the Lead MRI Technologist, according to standard procedures, operates a magnet-ic resonance imaging unit and related equipment in order to produce images of any designated anatomical area. Collects and completes records on patient data and equipment operation. Provides assistance to patients and radi-ologists. Solves minor equipment problems. Performs calibration tests and other quality control functions on equipment and notifies services personnel as required.

- Performs daily QA/Reboot System in AM;
Shutdown system in PM. - Selects proper technical factors on an individual patient basis, reflecting the age-specific needs of the geriatric, adult, children and infant patient.
- Screens all patients and visitors prior to entry into the MRI Scan Room for contra-indicated items.
- Appraises physical condition of all patients to determine ability to withstand the procedure.
- Communicates to the patient the nature and type of examination to be performed.
- Verifies and/or obtains informed consent for examinations requiring consent.
- Obtains, records, and maintains patient history from the patient’s chart, referring physician and/or by interviewing the patient.
- Positions patients for imaging to obtain satisfactory examinations and perform requested procedures.
- Protects and immobilizes patient in accordance with prescribed methods and safety standards.
- Utilizes technical equipment including PACs, RIS, film(camera) power injection and Teleradiology systems.
- Performs complex imaging of cross-sectional, sagittal, cononal, and obliquely generated MRI images.
- Prepares copies of MRI scans when appropriate and correctly affixes labels to outgoing film folders.
- Troubleshoots equipment problems notifies lead tech if system does not respond to reboot procedures.
- Participates in clinical instruction and supervision of radiological students.
- Maintains a thorough knowledge of the latest developments in the MRI field.
- Maintains knowledge of patient care procedures such as sterile techniques and infection control.
- May carry out General X-Ray Tech duties as needed if licensed as a Radiologic Tech.
- Registered Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) preferred.
- MRI (ARRT MR) Certification required within 6 months of hire.
- Must hold a current CPR certification from AHA, BLS for Healthcare Providers.
- Previous MRI scanning experience preferred.
- Must be able to sit 1 or more hours, stand/squat 1‑3 hours, walk 1‑3 hours and lift 10‑35 lbs with good body mechanics.
- Moderate twisting and frequent bending required.
- Must be able to use both hands and wrists with frequent fine motor movement and moderate repetition.
- Near vision must be accurate at 20/20, far vision 20/40, and accurate depth perception with minimal color discrimination.
- Must hear whisper at three feet.
The minimum qualifications for the position are the same as the qualifications described in the qualifications section.
Pay Range$38.78-$64.00
