Automotive Technician

Transdev in Newport, Rhode Island, is seeking skilled Automotive Technicians to join our maintenance team. Our technicians inspect, diagnose, and repair a wide range of vehicles and equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation.

• Competitive compensation package of minimum $18.00 – Maximum $32.00/hour

• Vacation: minimum of two (2) weeks
• Sick days: 5 days
• Holidays: 13 days

• Company paid ASE testing and training materials.

• Perform inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on vehicles and equipment in accordance with company and manufacturer standards.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with engines, electrical systems, brakes, suspension, and other vehicle components.
• Use diagnostic tools and software to identify problems and verify repairs.
• Complete repair orders and documentation accurately within maintenance systems.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
• Follow all safety protocols, company policies, and DOT regulations.
• Assist and collaborate with other technicians to complete repairs efficiently.
• Provide mentorship or guidance to less experienced team members, as applicable.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training preferred.
• Some experience in automotive, diesel, or fleet maintenance required.
• ASE certifications preferred (or willingness to obtain through company‑supported program).
• Must possess a valid driver’s license; CDL preferred or ability to obtain.
• Must work 7:00am – 3:30pm, M‑F.
• Must provide a set of basic mechanic tools.
• Ability to work shifts or flexible schedules as needed.
• Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.

• Work outside sometimes in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions.
• Push and pull objects up to 100 pounds, occasionally throughout the workday; lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch.

• Be eligible to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship now or in the future (if based in the U.S.).
• Successfully pass a pre‑employment drug screen.
