Part Time Lockup Operative – Newquay Town Council
Newquay Town Council has a vacancy for Part Time Lockup Operative. This role will be primarily responsible for inspecting, cleaning and securing all Council owned public toilets and other Town Council premises, ensuring all access points are locked in line with the operating hours and all security and alarm systems are functioning correctly. The role is seasonal from April to September.
It is vital that the Public Toilets and other Town Council owned properties in and around Newquay are safe, clean and fit for the level of usage they have and locked securely overnight to prevent damage/vandalism. Newquay Town Council owns and is directly responsible for the operation and management of 13 sets of toilets in Newquay and sees them as key assets which need to showcase the town to residents and visitors alike.
The role will require working evenings on a rota basis, cleaning and locking down each public toilet. The role will involve cleaning public toilets to support the Facilities Operatives during the busy summer period and will be lone working but with the contact of the Deputy Estates Manager while on duty. Applicants must be available to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
Job sharing is an option.
- Inspect and secure all Town Council premises, ensuring all access points are locked in line with operating hours and all security and alarm systems are functioning correctly.
- Carry out an end of operation clean of public toilets where possible, in line with local cleaning schedules and maintaining high quality standards.
- Act as a keyholder for Town Council assets and premises and respond to any alarms or emergencies, undertaking an initial investigation and responding out of hours if required.
- Escalate any identified risks or concerns to the Facilities Manager in a timely manner so that necessary arrangements can be made.
- Assist with the upkeep and maintenance of the Town's public facilities and open spaces.
- Ensure that, when relevant, the Town Council's facilities and buildings are opened, safe and accessible to the general public.
- Undertake other duties that may be required from time to time within the general scope of the post.

- 25 days annual leave (pro‑rata for part‑time positions) in addition to public and bank holidays. This rises to 28 days after 5 years of service.

Hourly rate: £14.13 per hour
