Estimator – Head Office (Newry)

About the Company

We are an established main contractor with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality construction projects across commercial, residential, education, healthcare, and public-sector developments. Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our Head Office team in Newry.

The Role

As an Estimator, you will play a key role in the preparation of competitive tenders and cost estimates for a wide range of construction projects. Working closely with the pre-construction, commercial, and delivery teams, you will help secure new business opportunities while ensuring accurate and commercially viable submissions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review tender documentation, drawings, specifications, and bills of quantities.
  • Prepare accurate cost estimates and tender submissions.
  • Obtain and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
  • Conduct quantity take-offs and pricing exercises.
  • Identify risks and value-engineering opportunities.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors throughout the tender process.
  • Assist in preparing tender reports and presentations.
  • Maintain cost databases and market intelligence.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in an Estimator role within a main contracting environment.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods and building contracts.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and estimating software.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Degree or qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline (preferred).
