Our Client is seeking an experienced and proactive Safety Coachto support safe working practices within their fabrication workshop.
This role is hands-on and highly visible on the shop floor, focusing on monitoring activities, ensuring compliance with safety procedures, and coaching employees to maintain a strong safety culture.
The Safety Coach will play a key role in identifying unsafe acts or conditions, providing real-time guidance, and reporting safety performance to management. The successful candidate will be confident intervening when required and skilled in influencing positive behavioural change.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor day-to-day activities within the steel fabrication workshop to ensure all work is carried out in accordance with safety procedures, risk assessments, and method statements
- Actively coach and guide employees on safe work practices, reinforcing positive behaviours and addressing unsafe acts constructively.
- Intervene immediately where unsafe acts or conditions are observed, ensuring work is stopped if necessary to prevent injury or damage
- Support employees and supervisors with practical safety advice and guidance.
- Conduct routine safety observations, inspections, and behavioural safety engagements.
- Identify trends, hazards, and improvement opportunities within workshop operations.
- Prepare and deliver regular safety reports to management, including observations, interventions, and recommendations.
- Assist with incident investigations and support the implementation of corrective actions.
- Promote a strong safety culture by leading by example and encouraging open communication around safety
Proven experience in a safety, HSE, or safety coaching role within a manufacturing, steel fabrication, or heavy industrial environment.
Strong working knowledge of workshop safety procedures, permits, risk assessments, and safe systems of work
Confident communicator with the ability to engage and influence employees at all levels
Practical, solutions-focused approach to safety coaching and intervention
Strong observation and reporting skills with attention to detail
Ability to remain calm and assertive when intervening in unsafe situations
Qualifications (Desirable)- NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent
- IOSH membership or similar professional accreditation
- Relevant health and safety training (e.g. behavioural safety, incident investigation)
