Overview
We're looking for a Principal Electrical Engineer to join our growing Water Solutions team in London, St Albans, Croydon, or Basingstoke. In this role, you'll have the chance to contribute meaningfully to sustainable water solutions across multiple regions. You will support the delivery of projects including multi‑million‑pound water and wastewater schemes and have the opportunity to contribute to long‑term major frameworks over AMP8 and AMP
9.

Supporting AMP8 delivery plan valued at a Tot Ex of £14.9 billion - Severn Trent D&B Projects – Supporting Tier 1 contractors on major non‑infrastructure wastewater schemes

Lot 3 – Infrastructure Framework – Partnering exclusively with Tier 1 contractors to deliver efficient and sustainable water and wastewater solutions
Working flexibly, you'll visit client sites and collaborate with teams across multi‑year frameworks while managing multi‑disciplinary projects from inception to delivery.
Responsibilities- Electrical and ICA Design – Undertake the design and review of electrical and ICA elements in wastewater and water infrastructure/treatment projects; offer technical advice where needed.
- Delivery – Conduct feasibility studies, outline and detailed design, and provide construction/commissioning support.
- Quality – Ensure high technical quality, contribute to bids, and maintain client relationships.
- Project Management – Manage project budgets, schedules, and deliverables to meet agreed targets.
- Collaborate – Work with multidisciplinary teams, clients and stakeholders to secure buy‑in to solutions, contributing to AECOM’s wider technical capability and innovative approach.
- Leadership – Manage direct reports, inspire technical excellence, and support the growth of fellow engineers.
- BEng or MEng in Electrical Engineering with experience in water and wastewater treatment.
- Chartered Member of a relevant Professional Institution.
- Proven expertise in producing, reviewing, and approving engineering reports, designs, drawings, and specifications.
- Problem‑solver at heart, confident in taking ownership of challenging technical issues and seeing them through to resolution.
- Exceptional client and stakeholder engagement skills, with experience in team leadership, mentoring, and line management.
