Monday 03 Aug 2026 09:00 Job Overview To provide technical ownership, support, and continuous improvement of the site's automation and control systems, ensuring reliable and compliant operation of manufacturing and utility equipment across Norbrook Laboratories Ltd. The Automation Engineer is responsible for maintaining and developing automation infrastructure, supporting operational excellence, troubleshooting complex control system issues, and ensuring automation systems remain compliant with GMP and regulatory requirements.

The role will also provide specialist automation support to engineering and capital projects where required. Main Activities/Tasks Maintain and support PLC, HMI, SCADA, and industrial control systems across the site. Troubleshoot automation and control system faults, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions. Develop and modify automation software and maintain appropriate backups and version control. Support Manufacturing, Maintenance, Engineering, Validation, and Quality teams with automation-related activities.

Ensure automation systems comply with GMP, data integrity, and company standards. Support commissioning, qualification, validation, and change control activities for automation systems. Identify and implement automation improvements to enhance safety, quality, reliability, and efficiency. Provide technical input to equipment upgrades and capital projects, including design review, FAT/SAT, commissioning, and handover activities. Maintain accurate automation documentation, including software backups, network information, and change records.

Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with Health & Safety procedures.

Essential Criteria :
Degree (or equivalent experience) in Automation, Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronic, or related Engineering discipline. Proven experience supporting industrial automation systems in a regulated manufacturing environment. Strong knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, and industrial communications. Working knowledge of GMP, change control, and validation requirements. Good problem-solving, communication, and organisational skills. Competent in Microsoft Office and engineering/document control systems. Desirable Criteria:

Experience with MES, Historian, or Batch Control systems. Knowledge of GAMP 5, ISA standards, or industrial cybersecurity. Experience supporting commissioning and validation of automated systems. Experience in pharmaceutical or life sciences manufacturing. Duration:
