The Role:

As a Maintenance Engineer, you will provide both reactive and preventative maintenance support across DELI LITES production operations, ensuring equipment reliability, minimising downtime, and supporting operational efficiency.

This role is critical to maintaining safe and effective production processes, ensuring engineering standards are met, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the site. You will work closely with production teams to maximise equipment performance while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance.

Your Duties:

• Ensure a culture of safe working practices is maintained at all times through personal leadership and compliance with Health & Safety requirements
• Support the management of Health & Safety for engineering staff and contractors
• Ensure Health & Safety risk assessments are completed, reviewed, and actioned where required
• Support compliance with statutory, regulatory, and company Health & Safety requirements across the site
• Provide reactive maintenance support to minimise production downtime and maintain operational performance
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities to maximise equipment reliability and efficiency
• Maintain engineering records and ensure maintenance documentation is completed accurately
• Manage engineering spares and consumable stock levels to support maintenance activities
• Assist with planning and monitoring maintenance expenditure in line with budget requirements
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance plant performance and operational efficiency
• Assist in identifying opportunities for automation and process improvements to reduce costs and improve productivity
• Ensure all customer, food safety, and quality standards are achieved and maintained
• Liaise with external contractors and service providers as required
  Report any engineering, safety, or compliance concerns to management promptly
• Attend meetings and training sessions as required
• Carry out any other duties, within reason and capability, as determined by your Line Manager

• Minimum 3 years' experience within an FMCG or chilled food manufacturing environment
• Qualified to a minimum HNC level in an Engineering or Electrical discipline
• Apprenticeship trained and qualified
• Experience using preventative maintenance management systems
• Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills
• Understanding of Health & Safety legislation and safe systems of work
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Good communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

Desired Criteria:

• Experience with in food manufacturing or FMCG environments
• Experience dealing with external contractors, service providers, and regulatory bodies
• Experience with continuous improvement projects
• Knowledge of automated production equipment and systems
• Experience working with CMMS or maintenance management software
• Flexible approach to shift patterns and production support requirements
