Day to day duties will include:
Lead the end-to-end production of monthly management accounts for multiple group companies, ensuring accuracy, insight, and timely delivery. Own the statutory financial statements process for group entities, including coordination and management of annual audits. Provide leadership, coaching, and day-to-day management to a direct report, supporting development and high performance. Oversee the integrity of balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring robust controls and clear resolution of any issues.
Review sales ledgers to ensure invoicing aligns with contractual terms and that outstanding balances are collected promptly. Manage and review monthly recharges across management and operating companies, including full reconciliation of intercompany balances and investigation of discrepancies with the finance team. Support the preparation of quarterly board reporting, with the opportunity to take full ownership once established in the role.
Lead the transition from quarterly to monthly management reporting, improving cadence, visibility, and decision-making across the group. Provide oversight of payroll processes across multiple entities, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery. Oversight of VAT returns and corporation tax processes, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements. Maintain and strengthen financial controls, ensuring processes are clearly documented, embedded, and consistently followed. Support the Finance Director, CFO, and wider finance team on project-based and ad-hoc work as required.
The ideal candidate:
Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA). Proven experience managing and developing direct reports. Strong background in preparing and reviewing management accounts. Experience preparing and/or reviewing statutory financial statements. Solid understanding of balance sheet reconciliations and financial control frameworks. Technical accounting experience - IFRS 16 exposure is a strong advantage. Demonstrated ability to take ownership, prioritise effectively, and manage competing deadlines.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with finance and non-finance stakeholders.
