Management Accountant

Overview

Hey! We’re Kukoon, and we’re scaling fast. This isn’t your standard bean‑counting finance role, it’s about helping us build a finance function that can keep pace with a £20m business on its way to £50m.

You’ll be right‑hand to our Financial Controller, taking ownership of the monthly numbers, spotting issues before they become problems, and turning data into smart decisions. Some days you’ll be deep in reconciliations; others, you’ll be streamlining processes, chasing insight, or supporting grant applications. If you love patterns, process, and a perfectly balanced balance sheet - you’ll fit right in.

• Own the month‑end & balance sheet:
  From prepayments and accruals through to accurate, timely management accounts and watertight reporting
• Cashflow & controls:
  Prepare and maintain weekly cashflow forecasts, support audits, board reporting, and help keep us compliant
• Commercial insight:
  Analyse performance across sales channels and turn numbers into insight that supports decision‑making
• Finance go‑to person:
  Partner with suppliers, customers and colleagues to answer queries and support the wider business
• Grants, funding & growth:
  Support grant applications, R&D claims, and ensure opportunities for funding aren’t missed
• Smarter ways of working:
  Improve systems and processes, reduce manual effort, and jump in on ad‑hoc analysis or curveballs when needed

• Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, CAI or equivalent).
• At least 2 years’ post‑qualification experience in management accounting, including month‑end and reconciliations.
• Strong Excel skills and experience with cloud‑based finance systems.
• Detail‑driven: you catch what others miss and love getting things right.
• Proactive, organised, and always looking for better ways to work.
• Strong communication skills: you can explain the numbers to non‑finance teams.
• Take ownership and follow through: you don’t leave loose ends.
