Reporting to the Financial Accounting Manager, you'll take ownership of core financial accounting activities including balance sheet management, month‑end close, statutory reporting support and audit preparation.

This is a great opportunity for a part‑qualified or newly qualified accountant who enjoys hands‑on financial accounting and wants to further develop their technical expertise in a collaborative, improvement‑focused environment.

What you'll be doing

Financial accounting & reporting

  • Manage the fixed asset register, including capitalisation, depreciation and disposals
  • Prepare and post month‑end journals (accruals, prepayments, leases and adjustments)
  • Produce weekly cash flow reporting
  • Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts, investigating and resolving variances
  • Reconcile intercompany balances and prepare intercompany matrices
  • Support monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting in line with accounting standards
  • Prepare VAT and Corporation Tax workings
  • Assist with statutory accounts preparation and year‑end close

Audit, controls & compliance

  • Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responding to queries
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies and regulatory requirements

Business partnering & stakeholder support

  • Act as a first point of contact for finance‑related queries from non‑finance teams
  • Provide clear financial analysis and explanations to support decision‑making
  • Work closely with colleagues across finance and the wider business

Systems & continuous improvement

  • Use finance systems and Excel to maintain accurate financial records
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy and consistency
  • Support finance transformation or system‑improvement initiatives
  • Contribute to ad‑hoc projects as required
What we're looking for

Essential

  • Part‑qualified or qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
  • Strong understanding of core financial accounting principles
  • Experience in a finance or accounting role (practice or industry)
  • High attention to detail with strong analytical skills
  • Confident communicator with good stakeholder‑management skills
  • Strong Excel skills and experience using finance systems
  • Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement

Desirable

  • Audit background
  • SOX and/or US GAAP exposure
Why join us?
  • A technically varied role with real ownership and impact
  • Exposure to statutory reporting, audits and senior stakeholders
  • Supportive team environment with a focus on development and improvement
  • Opportunity to grow into a broader or more senior finance role over time
