Newry, Mourne and Down District Council is seeking to appoint an independent member to its Audit Committee, this member will also chair the Audit Committee. Its role will be to help promote the highest standards in the financial management of th Council and thereby ensure the accountability of public funds. The Audit Committee will be responsible for assisting the Council in fulfilling its responsibilities for the integrity of the Council's financial and operational results, compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and monitoring performance internal and external audit.

Duration of Appointment:Initially to 31 March 2028.

Salary:A payment of £500 will be paid per meeting (this will include preparation time of £250 and £250 for the meeting). In addition reasonable travelling expenses will be paid (subject to PAYE).

Hours of Work:This post will take up about four half days per annum for meetings (excluding preparation time), in addition there will be a requirement to occasionally attend courses / seminars.

Location:The meetings will take place in District Council Offices Newry and Downpatrick (as required).
