The Hospital Porter plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the hospital environment.

This position involves transporting patients, equipment, and supplies throughout the facility while maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and safety. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills, a compassionate attitude, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare setting.

• Transport patients safely and efficiently between departments, including wards, imaging, and treatment areas.
• Assist with the movement of medical equipment and supplies as required.
• Maintain cleanliness in designated areas, ensuring a tidy and safe environment for patients and staff.
• Support nursing staff by responding promptly to requests for assistance.
• Adhere to health and safety protocols at all times to ensure the well-being of patients and colleagues.
• Assist with the preparation of patient rooms and ensure that necessary equipment is available for use.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals to provide updates on patient transport status.

• Previous experience in a healthcare setting is desirable but not essential.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to empathise with patients and their families.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also being self‑motivated.
• Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail.
• Physical stamina to perform manual handling tasks and stand for extended periods.
• A commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to hospital policies and procedures. This role is vital in supporting the overall patient experience within the hospital, contributing positively to their care journey.
