UK-Wide – Remote (Travel to Reading once per month)

Base Salary: £80,000 per annum + Technical Development & Certifications

Areti are delighted to be supporting a rapidly expanding technology business in their search for a Dev Ops (Automation) Consultant to join their high-performing UK team.

>

This award-winning organisation partners with global enterprises to deliver end-to-end automation, infrastructure, and cloud-native transformation. Following sustained growth across the UK and Europe, they are now seeking a technically driven consultant who thrives on building, automating, and optimising complex environments.

The Role

As a Dev Ops (Automation) Consultant, you’ll play a pivotal role in designing, building, and delivering robust automation solutions across enterprise-scale environments. You’ll bring strong development expertise, infrastructure automation knowledge, and the confidence to guide customers through architectural decisions, best practice, and continuous improvement.

This is more than simply delivering solutions; you’ll help define how they are built. Working closely with technical and business stakeholders, you’ll lead workshops, influence architectural direction, and ensure customers maximise the value of automation across their environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and optimise automated solutions across multi‑cloud and hybrid environments.
  • Develop object‑oriented Python integrations and tooling to improve operational efficiency.
  • Lead design sessions, run customer workshops, and present technical solutions and roadmaps.
  • Build and manage CI/CD pipelines (Git Hub/Git Lab) and support continuous delivery workflows
    .
  • Develop, integrate, and maintain APIs (REST, Graph

    QL, NETCONF, gRPC)
    .
  • Implement secure,
cloud‑aware designs aligned with networking and security best practices.
  • Build and troubleshoot containerised workloads using Docker and Kubernetes
    .
  • Manage infrastructure using configuration‑as‑code tooling such as Ansible and Terraform
    .
  • Contribute to and advocate for robust testing practices, including unit testing (
    pytest
    ).
About You

You are passionate about Dev Ops and believe that automation is fundamental to delivering scalable, resilient, and secure environments. You’re curious, hands‑on, and enjoy building solutions that make systems, and people, more effective.

You’re confident with customers, comfortable leading technical conversations, and proactive in shaping outcomes. Whether running a workshop, advising on architecture, or writing code, you bring clarity, challenge assumptions, and drive progress.

Ideal Experience

(You don’t have to tick every box, if you’re close, we’d love to hear from you.)

  • At least two years’ experience developing object‑oriented Python
    .
  • Strong experience delivering automation-focused solutions
    .
  • Strong understanding of cloud and network security best practice.
  • Hands‑on with Dev Ops tooling (
    CI/CD, version control, containers
    ).
  • Experience integrating APIs (REST, Graph

    QL, NETCONF, gRPC)
    .
  • Proficiency building and running containerised services (
    Docker, Kubernetes
    ).
  • Experience with Ansible, Terraform
    , or similar tooling.
  • Knowledge of unit testing / TDD (
    pytest
    ).
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP
    .
  • Two+ years in network engineering or similar.
  • Strong knowledge of OSI, IP, routing, DNS, HTTP, BGP, MPLS
    .
  • Exposure to vendors such as Netbox, IP Fabric, Slurpit, Itential, Apstra, Juniper, Nokia, Arista
    .
  • Experience working in Scrum environments.
Why Apply?

You’ll join a collaborative, expert‑driven team that values curiosity, innovation, and an automation‑first mindset.

This organisation actively invests in your development, with continuous training, vendor certifications, and opportunities to influence how next‑generation platforms are designed and delivered.

This is your opportunity to build, shape, and evolve cloud‑native and automation‑driven solutions that transform enterprise operations for the better.

We’re on a mission to put people and the planet before profit — helping to build a better, more sustainable tech future.
