- Qualifications / Experience
:- Hold a NEBOSH Health and Safety at Work qualification, or an equivalent or higher level qualification.
- Hands‑on maintenance experience in carrying out handyperson duties including minor repairs and basic construction tasks.
- Experience using industrial cleaning equipment.
- Experience of key‑holding duties, including opening and closing premises and setting alarm systems.

Job Title: Building Supervisor (with no supervision)
Reports To: School Principal
Job Purpose: To provide cleaning and non‑cleaning services under the direction of the designated line manager or other authorised person, in accordance with the Education Authority’s practices and procedures.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Security- Secure premises and its contents.
- Open and close premises and grounds as authorised.
- Ensure all windows, doors and gates are locked at the end of each day.
- Safeguard keys and monitor key custody.
- Operate and monitor security camera system.
- Operate fire alarm, burglar alarm and building security systems, reporting faults.
- Attend after‑hour incidents, ensure premises are secured and clean.
- Report any suspicious activity during normal working hours.
- Report any breach of security.
- Apply grit or rock salt to snow and frost to keep pathways clear.
- Efficient operation of boiler/heating, ensuring value for money and energy conservation.
- Lighting and heating of the premises, routine maintenance of plant.
- Requisition and monitor fuel, water and electricity usage.
- Replace lamps, tubes and plugs.
- Inspect and report defects on firefighting equipment.
- Clean and maintain water levels in swimming / hydrotherapy pools.
- Clean premises (excluding school meals accommodation).
- Plan, organise and control cleaning staff as appropriate.
- Prepare periodic cleaning plans with service users.
- Recommend and implement procedural changes to improve standards or efficiency.
- Monitor suitability of materials and lighting equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness of hard surfaces, paths, ornamental grounds.
