Hunter Savage, a specialist recruitment consultancy with deep expertise across the Built Environment, are hiring for our client for an experienced Operations Manager in Civil Engineering to join a leading groundworks contractor based in Co. Down.

This Operations Manager role offers genuine senior-level influence, supporting the Managing Director in driving operational performance across complex infrastructure projects throughout the UK, Ireland and mainland Europe. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Operations Manager, Project Manager or Contracts Manager who wants greater responsibility, strategic input and long-term career growth.

As Operations Manager you will:

• Take responsibility for operational delivery across live projects
• Lead and develop Project Managers, Site Managers, Engineers and site teams
• Ensure projects are properly planned from pre-start through to completion
• Oversee programme certainty, sequencing, logistics and resource planning
• Identify operational risks early and implement practical solutions
• Drive high standards across safety, quality, productivity and site presentation
• Work closely with Commercial and Finance teams to ensure aligned project delivery
• Act as a senior escalation point for operational challenges
• Build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and principal contractors
• Recruit, mentor and develop future leaders within the business

• Senior operational or project leadership experience within civil engineering or groundworks
• Strong knowledge of construction sequencing, logistics and programme control
• Experience managing multiple projects across different locations
• Structured, confident leadership style with strong communication skills
• Commercial awareness and a proactive, solutions-focused approach
• Strong attention to detail with excellent HSEQ awareness
