An established engineering and manufacturing company based in Newry is seeking an experienced Powder Coater to join their production team. This hands‑on role will involve preparing, coating, and finishing metal components to a high standard within a busy workshop environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring consistent quality finishes across a range of fabricated and engineered products while maintaining safe and efficient working practices.

Job

Overview
  • Prepare metal components for powder coating including cleaning, masking, sanding, and hanging parts
  • Apply powder coating finishes to fabricated and engineered components using spray equipment
  • Operate powder coating ovens and monitor curing processes
  • Inspect coated products to ensure quality standards and finish consistency
  • Identify coating defects and carry out rework where required
  • Maintain powder coating equipment and ensure the work area remains clean and organised
  • Work from production schedules and job sheets to meet manufacturing deadlines
  • Follow health & safety procedures and correct handling of materials and equipment
  • Support wider workshop and production activities where required
  • Work effectively as part of a manufacturing team in a fast‑paced environment
Requirements
  • Previous experience within powder coating or industrial paint spraying
  • Experience working within a manufacturing, engineering, or fabrication environment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high‑quality finishes
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good understanding of workshop health & safety procedures
  • Reliable, punctual, and flexible approach to work
  • Forklift or overhead crane experience would be advantageous but not essential
Hours of Work
  • Monday – Thursday: 07:00 – 17:00
  • Friday: 07:00 – 13:00
  • 40‑hour working week
Salary & Benefits
  • £15.00 - £16.50 per hour depending on experience
