RolePurpose
The Crane Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of overhead and material-handling cranes within the Black Bin Plant. The role supports waste processing operations by ensuring consistent material movement, maintaining production flow, and complying with all health, safety, environmental and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities- Operate overhead cranes and associated plant equipment safely and efficiently.
- Receive, load, sort and transfer black bin waste materials within designated processing areas.
- Maintain continuous feed of material to processing equipment.
- Conduct pre-use inspections and report defects immediately.
- Follow safe systems of work, operating procedures and risk assessments.
- Work closely with plant operatives, maintenance teams and supervisors.
- Monitor waste streams and identify contamination or abnormal materials.
- Maintain accurate operational records and shift reports.
- Support housekeeping standards and ensure work areas remain clean and safe.
- Assist during shutdowns, maintenance activities and operational troubleshooting when required.
- Comply with all company health, safety and environmental procedures.
- Report hazards, near misses and incidents promptly.
- Stop work where unsafe conditions exist and escalates concerns.
