Vanrath are supporting the recruitment of a Corporate Public Relations (PR) & Events Co-ordinator for a large public sector company within the Newry area on a temporary basis.

The post-holder will be a member of the Marketing, Communications & Student Recruitment Team and assist in the strategic and operational functions as and when required. They will have responsibility for the delivery of public relations campaigns across the College, development and management of all College events, maintenance and growth of relationships with secondary, grammar and special schools across the catchment area and production of key publications.

They will report directly to the Senior Marketing, Communications & Student Recruitment Officer.

People Management
  • Lead a team of Marketing Officers in the achievement of operational requirements related to:
    • Public relations
    • Event management
    • School relationships
    • Publication development
  • Assist in the delivery and achievement of KPI’s outlined in the College Action Plan.
  • Act as the designated line manager for staff on issues including conduct and discipline, performance management, attendance management, staff appraisal, curriculum and staff development.
  • Ensure that effective arrangements are in place for staff development and that performance reviews are conducted in accordance with agreed procedures.
Operational Responsibilities
  • Represent the marketing team in a professional and positive manner with both internal and external stakeholders and in doing so reflect the values of the College.
  • Attend meetings on a regular basis regarding College developments in relation to Marketing, Communications and Student Recruitment.
  • Provide relevant, meaningful and regular analytics and evaluation reports as requested by the Senior Marketing, Communications & Student Recruitment Officer and the Head of Marketing, Communications & Student Recruitment.
  • Provide management information data as appropriate.
  • Assist with the conducting of market research via a variety of media. Monitor and analyse the perceptions and/or success of College promotional events and activities.
  • Provide content for the College website, staff and student SharePoint sites, and internal communications mediums e.g., digital screens.
  • Effectively employ new and emerging IT packages in developing and maintaining links related to role.
  • Assist in content creation for delivery across the College website and digital channels.
  • Provide cover for other Marketing staff as and when required and participate in activities such as:
    • Photograph/video opportunities
    • Advising on marketing/advertising
    • Offering relevant support to staff
    • Campus marketing requirements
    • Recruitment and admissions activity
School Relationships
  • Initiate, maintain and develop close links with all grammar, secondary and special schools, within the catchment area and with selected schools in other parts of Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and with the university sector.
  • Develop, maintain and nurture links with youth and other appropriate organisations throughout the catchment area.
  • Represent the College at selected careers guidance sessions and conventions.
  • Develop content for delivery (static and interactive) within local schools and at careers conventions.
  • Develop and deliver events which nurture relationships with school teachers, principals, and DfE careers staff.
  • Ensure healthy record keeping through databases of communications with stakeholders.
Event Management
  • Plan and manage College events e.g., Information/Open Days, School Partnership events, Higher Education Graduation, Careers Teachers’ Events, Awards Ceremonies etc.
  • Produce detailed proposals for events (including timelines, venues, suppliers, legal obligations, staffing and budgets).
  • Research venues, suppliers and contractors. Negotiate prices for hire and coordinate event logistics.
