are working in partnership with the local Health and Social Care Trust to recruit a
Band 3 Support Worker
for
Bluebell House
.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will join the Residential Team, providing residential short breaks at Carrickore/Oaklands and intensive support at Bluebell House for children and young people with an intellectual disability.

The post holder will play an important role in supporting the delivery of multidisciplinary and therapeutic interventions for children and young people with intellectual disabilities, health needs and/or complex behavioural difficulties. The residential service is highly developmental in nature and is based on recognised examples of best practice.

Although the majority of the role will be unit-based, the post holder may also support assessments, social inclusion activities and interventions within the community. This could include outreach services, youth groups, clubs, summer schemes and visits to family homes.

Qualifications & Experience

Applicants must meet
one
of the following criteria:

  • Be aged
    21 or over
    at the time of application, in accordance with Standard 17:9 of the DHSSPS Minimum Standards for Children's Homes 2015.

Option 1:

  • Hold, or be in the process of obtaining, an
    NVQ/QCF/RQF Level 3 in Caring for Children and Young People
    , or an equivalent Health and Social Care qualification;
    and
  • Have at least1 year’s experience
    working with children, young people or young adults with an intellectual disability in a caring capacity, within a community, acute or residential setting.

OR

Option 2:

  • Hold an
    NVQ/QCF/RQF Level 2qualification in a Health and Social Care-related subject, or equivalent;
    and
  • Have at least2 years’ experience
    working with children, young people or young adults with an intellectual disability in a caring capacity, within a community, acute or residential setting.

OR

Option 3:

  • Have4 GCSEs at Grades A-C, including English, or equivalent;
    and
  • Have at least3 years’ experience
    working with children, young people or young adults with an intellectual disability in a caring capacity, within a community, acute or residential setting.

Applicants must also be
registered with NISCC on the Social Care part of the register at the time of appointment, or be eligible for immediate registration within a reasonable timescale before taking up the post.

Hours of Work
  • Full-time: 37.5 hours per week
  • 3 long days per week
  • Temporary position
