Artemis Human Capital is recruiting for a Transport Manager on behalf of a national Sustainability and Environmental firm. The Transport Manager will be responsible for fleet and plant compliance across the organisation's operations, ensuring cost-efficient maintenance through close liaison with service providers, suppliers, and in-house garage teams. Supporting the Operations and Commercial teams, this role oversees planned and reactive maintenance and repair for a fleet of around 80 commercial vehicles, including specialist tanker, combination jetting, and vacuum trucks.

The successful candidate will ensure all vehicles are safe, reliable, and fully compliant with relevant regulations, and will take ownership of all aspects of fleet management. Responsibilities and Focus Ensure statutory compliance of all company vehicles, heavy plant, and specialist operational assets, in strict alignment with DVA requirements and HGV Operator Licence (O-Licence) conditions. Plan and organise vehicle and plant maintenance and repairs in line with operational requirements.

Oversee scheduling of Planned Maintenance Inspections, PSV, MOT, and related checks. Work directly with the in-house garage to ensure appropriate allocation of resources to achieve desired outcomes. Manage relationships with suppliers, ensuring optimum efficiency and value for money. Coordinate the response to breakdowns and plant issues to minimise downtime. Maintain detailed records of all maintenance and repair work. Build strong working knowledge of the mechanical operation of all plant and HGVs, and of maintenance best practice.

Communicate and collaborate daily with Operations and Project Management teams. Support and promote a culture of safe working practices, liaising with field staff as required. Oversee driver performance, CPC compliance, and driving licence monitoring. Oversee daily vehicle check procedures and defect management. Utilise existing company systems and software for ongoing monitoring, reporting, and analysis. Report regularly to senior management on team performance and areas for improvement.

Develop fleet strategy, including technology and innovation, fleet purchasing decisions, and fleet structure. Take responsibility for your own health and safety and that of others, promoting a positive safety culture in the workplace. Ensure all health and safety obligations are met and company policies are adhered to. Report safety concerns, hazard observations, accidents, and incidents in a timely manner to enable full investigation and prevent recurrence.

Support accident/incident investigations through technical knowledge.
