Senior Practice Manager

This highly regarded accountancy practice in Newton Abbot is looking to recruit an experienced Senior Practice Manager. Working closely with the Partners, this role offers responsibility for a substantial client portfolio, team leadership duties and the opportunity to become a trusted advisor to a broad range of businesses and individuals.

• Managing and reviewing a varied portfolio of clients, ensuring work is completed to a high standard and within deadlines
• Acting as a trusted adviser to clients across accounts, tax and business matters
• Reviewing accounts, VAT and tax compliance work prior to Partner sign-off
• Attending client meetings and building strong long-term relationships
• Overseeing workflow, WIP, budgets and billing across your client portfolio
• Supporting, mentoring and developing team members while assisting with resource planning
• Contributing to business development activities and wider practice improvement initiatives
• Supporting the Partners with specialist projects and operational management responsibilities

The successful Senior Practice Manager will hold ACA or ACCA qualification status and possess significant post-qualified experience gained within an accountancy practice environment.

You'll have strong technical knowledge across accounts preparation, business and corporate taxation, VAT and client management, together with the confidence to oversee a varied portfolio with minimal supervision. Experience managing and developing staff will be important, alongside the ability to build trusted relationships with clients and colleagues alike.

As a Senior Practice Manager, you'll be commercially aware, highly organised and comfortable balancing client demands, operational responsibilities and team leadership duties. Experience using cloud accounting software such as Xero, Quick Books or Sage, together with strong IT and spreadsheet skills, would be advantageous.
