Kingsteignton Medical Practice is seeking to recruit a patient centred GP to join our teamfor 6 clinical sessions a week on a permanent basis.
We are afamily friendly, well-regarded medical practice in South Devon with a patient listsize of 11,600. We have been rated good by CQC in previous inspections. We welcomemedical trainees in our practice and receive excellent feedback as we believepassionately in supporting the next generation of clinicians.
Our genuinelyfriendly team comprises GPs, Registrars, Nurses, HCAs, Paramedics, a Dietitianand a dynamic Patient Services team who are committed to working together forthe benefit of our patients. We look to encourage and support all members ofour team in their own self-development and provide opportunities for them to be involved in our service innovation and improvement.
The Practice is an active member of the Templer Care Primary Care Network (PCN) covering thewider footprint of Newton Abbot.

The practice uses TPPP Systm One clinical system and we work within BMA recommendedsafe working limits. Opportunities for Extended Access/Weekend work is wishedbut not compulsory.
Main duties of the jobYouwill be required to undertake all the reasonable duties of a GP including surgeries,home visits where necessary, medical examinations and other day-to-day clinical duties that a doctor in General Practice undertakes. We welcome GPs with aspecialist interest such as diabetes, heart care etc
To support the Partners to manage the clinical caseload. The postholder will be expected to take part in leading onkey disease areas (monitoring trends in treatment, staff training and prescribing) and assist in developing appropriate healthcare services for the diverse patient list (in-house clinical services, patient participation andhealth promotion).
In accordance with the practice timetable as agreed, the post-holder will make him/herself available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, emergency, telephone consultations and queries,triaging, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescription sand dealing with queries, patient medical reports and examinations (eg Insurance Companies) on behalf of the Practice, referral letters (NHS and private), paperwork and correspondence in a timely manner

Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workerswithin the organisation
Recording clear and contemporaneous computer-based consultation notes toagreed standards
Compiling and issuing computer generated acute and repeat prescriptions(avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible)
Prescribing in accordance with practice policies and regard to locallyagreed or national guidelines
Seek advice and refer to other clinicians where necessary and/or appropriate
In general, the post holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
