An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Phlebotomist to join the Bovey Tracey &Chudleigh Practice. This is a permanent position of up to 22.5 hours per week, ideally working on Monday and Tuesday from 08:30 - 18:00 and Friday from 08:30 - 13:00, however there is flexibility on days. Band 2 but salary is negotiable depending on experience. You will also be added to the Extended Hours rota on Monday and Tuesday from 18:00 - 20:00, which is paid at an elevated rate - you would be on the rota every 4-6 weeks.

We are seeking a dedicated and professional Phlebotomist to join our friendly and supportive GP Practice team. The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting patient care by carrying out blood collection and assisting with a range of clinical and administrative duties under the supervision of the Lead Practice Nurse
.

We are a eight Partner rural training practice with eight salaried doctors. We have a varied and supportive clinical and administrative team,which includes two advanced nurse practitioners, four practice nurses, five healthcare assistants, a health and wellbeing coach, a social prescribing link worker, a full complement of medical administrators and apharmacy team. We have a growing list size of 15,085 and operate from two purpose-built buildings.

Key responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities of the Phlebotomist may include, but are not limited to:
Collecting blood samples in accordance with current training, policies, and infection control procedures
Ensuring all samples are accurately and legibly labelled to confirm patient identity
Recording details of all sample collections in patient records, following practice protocols
Preparing and dispatching samples to appropriate laboratories in a timely and safe manner
Assisting clinicians with chaperoning duties during examinations or procedures
Processing and managing other laboratory samples requested by GPs or Nurses
Supporting vaccine and cold chain storage, monitoring, and recording in line with policy
Maintaining adequate stocks of surgical equipment and vaccines, ensuring correct rotation and replenishment
Clearing, cleaning, and restocking consulting rooms between clinics
Reporting any significant patient concerns or abnormal findings to the GP or Nurse promptly
About You
Experienced in phlebotomy and confident in sample collection from a range of patients
Excellent attention to detail with accurate record-keeping skills
Able to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team
Committed to delivering high-quality patient care and maintaining confidentiality
Training and development
You will receive appropriate training and supervision, and your duties may vary over time according to service needs and within the scope of your competence.
Person Specification Other- Computer Literate
- Driving Licence and own transport
- Experience of working within a nursing team
- Experience of dealing with vulnerable patients
- Experience of working in primary care
- Experience of working in a GP practice
- Ability to demonstrate a commitment to team working.
- Professional attitude, reliability and confidentiality.
- Ability to organise, prioritise and manage time effectively.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Able to communicate clearly verbally and in writing.
- Qualified in Phlebotomy
- Qualified to NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care
- GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths
