Mixed Veterinary Surgeon | Devon | £50,000+ DOE | Future Partnership Opportunity.

Moorland walks before work. Beaches at the weekend. A varied caseload, a supportive team and the freedom to build the veterinary career you actually want. Sound tempting? Welcome to Devon.

If you’re a mixed vet who loves the variety of the job but fancies a lifestyle that’s a little less ordinary, this could be the move that changes everything.

We’re working with a long-established, independent mixed practice on the edge of Dartmoor, where traditional values meet modern veterinary care. With beautiful countryside on the doorstep, beaches around 20 minutes away and a vibrant local town within walking distance, you can enjoy the best of rural living without feeling cut off from everything else.

The role:

variety, with room to grow.

You’ll join an experienced team working across three sites, with an approximately 50/50 small and large animal split. Farm work is predominantly beef and sheep, with some farm pets and a little equine work to keep things interesting.

You’ll have the opportunity to develop your own interests, shape your role and build lasting relationships with clients who value having a trusted local vet. There’s some sole-charge small animal consulting, alongside ambulatory large animal work, so confidence and at least three years’ experience are essential; five or more would be ideal.

And if you have ambitions beyond clinical work? The practice hopes to develop this position into a partnership opportunity, potentially through a Clinical Director role. This is a chance to help shape the future, not simply fill a rota.

What’s on offer?

* Salary from £50,000, depending on experience, with flexibility for the right candidate.

* A 4.5-day working week, with a full day off in lieu for weekend work.

* 1:8 first-on-call rota, with a 1:8 second-on-call weekend rota.

* 20 days’ holiday plus eight bank holidays, with up to five additional days for long service.

* RCVS, BVA, VDS and one additional professional membership paid.

* At least £1,500 CPD allowance, with no cap on useful, agreed CPD.

* Pension and staff discounts.

You’ll have excellent nursing and animal care support, an in-house laboratory, digital radiography and small and large animal ultrasound. The practice also proudly provides its own out-of-hours service.

Then there’s Devon.

Think Dartmoor National Park, spectacular walking routes, climbing, kayaking, beaches, history and lively local communities. You’re close to a city, well connected by road, rail and air, and within easy reach of good schools. Coffee shops, bakeries and independent businesses are part of everyday life in the nearby town.

So, what's next?

If you’re looking for a role where your voice matters, your growth is encouraged, and your life outside work is just as important as the care you provide inside the clinic, this could be your chance to build a career you’re proud of and a enjoy a lifestyle you love.

Forget the polished application; just reach out with whatever version of your CV you have on hand. We want to know the person, not just the paperwork.

The next few years here are going to be exciting. Why not help them write the next chapter?
