Retail Store Manager – Cancer Research UK

£26,789 – £31,385 per annum plus benefits.

Location:

Newton Abbott (Queens St) shop.

Contract:

Fixed-term until 15 January 2026.

Hours:

Full-time, 37.5 hours per week.

• Guiding, inspiring and engaging a paid staff and volunteer team, including recruitment, retention and development.
• Taking ownership of the commercial operation of the store, including display, merchandising, stock management, shop standards, layout, sales and income.
• Leading by example and providing excellent customer and supporter service.
• Maximising profit through cost control and sales.
• Creating relationships with the local community and Cancer Research UK colleagues.
• Organising and running creative fundraising events to achieve targets.
• Maintaining compliance with health and safety, safeguarding, security, administration and HR policies.
• Performing manual handling and physical activity as required by daily duties.

• Experience managing and inspiring a diverse team.
• Ability to work within targets and motivate others to meet them.
• Excellent multi-tasking skills in a lively environment.
• Knowledge of high‑street fashion retail and commercial awareness.
• Adaptability to changing situations and ability to work independently.
• Awareness of the price, value and worth of items.
• Flexibility to work on a rota basis.
