Experience in substance misuse, criminal justice, mental health, social care, or a related field can be beneficial, but it isn't essential. If you have strong people skills, can build positive relationships, and are passionate about helping others, we'll provide the training and support needed to help you succeed in the role.

Through the Gate Worker
Location: HMP Channings Wood Hours: 37.5 per week Contract: Permanent

Full-time hours at Change Grow Live are 37.5 hours per week. For part-time roles, the salary and payments will be pro rata based on contracted hours

As a Through the Gate Worker at HMP Channings Wood, you'll support people preparing for release from prison, helping them overcome barriers, access essential services, and take positive steps towards recovery and independence. You'll play a vital role in helping people build a fresh start by ensuring they have the right support, plans, and connections in place as they transition back into the community.

Experience in substance misuse, criminal justice, social care, or mental health can be beneficial, but it isn't essential. What You'll Do
  • Support individuals during the 12 weeks leading up to their release from prison.
  • Develop personalised resettlement and recovery plans.
  • Coordinate referrals to healthcare, treatment, and community services.
  • Work closely with prison staff, healthcare teams, resettlement teams and external partner agencies.
  • Advocate for individuals to access the support they need.
  • Promote recovery, resilience, social reintegration, and independence.
  • Contribute to risk management and safeguarding processes where required

Experience in substance misuse, criminal justice, mental health, social care, housing, community work, customer service, education, the armed forces, coaching, or mentoring is welcomed but not essential. We value attitude, motivation, and transferable skills and will provide training to support your development.
