We have a fantastic permanent opportunity now available for an experienced HGV Class 2 Driver to join a long-established operation based in Newton Abbot, South Devon. This is a full-time, permanent role offering a structured and reliable shift pattern across a seven-day operation.
The successful applicant will join a professional and hard-working team, taking responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of a Category C vehicle while delivering outstanding service to customers across the region.
LocationNewton Abbot, Devon. This is a depot and road-based role. No remote or hybrid working applies.
SalaryThe pay rate is £15.00 per hour, increasing to £16.81 per hour through PAYE Advance, with other PAYE models available. Paid weekly every Friday.
Key Responsibilities- Safely operating a Class 2 HGV in accordance with all relevant road transport legislation and company procedures
- Completing customer deliveries professionally and to a consistently high standard
- Conducting pre- and post-trip vehicle checks and reporting any defects through the correct channels
- Adhering to drivers' hours regulations, tachograph requirements and all health and safety protocols
- Maintaining a reliable and punctual attendance record, including early morning starts and weekend shifts
- Representing the company in a professional manner during all customer-facing interactions
- A full and valid Category C (Class 2 HGV) driving licence
- A valid Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC)
- A valid digital tachograph card
- Previous experience driving a Class 2 HGV in a commercial or distribution environment
- Willingness to commit to a Thursday to Monday shift pattern with early morning starts
- Ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced operational setting
- Familiarity with delivery routes across South Devon and the surrounding areas
- Experience working within a time-sensitive logistics or distribution operation
- Knowledge of manual handling procedures relevant to the role
Please note that minimal on-the-job training will be provided, so prior experience in a comparable HGV driving role is a requirement for this position.
