Year 1/2 Teacher - Newton Aycliffe

Milk Education is working with a number of welcoming and supportive Primary Schools across Newton Aycliffe and the surrounding areas and is looking to recruit passionate, enthusiastic, and dedicated Year 1/2 Teachers to join schools from September 2026.

Whether you're an experienced KS1 Teacher or an Early Career Teacher (ECT) looking to develop your teaching career, we'd love to hear from you. We have a range of long-term, full-time opportunities available, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

You'll play a vital role in supporting children through an important stage of their Primary education, delivering engaging lessons and creating a positive classroom environment where every child can thrive.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons across Year 1 and Year 2.
  • Follow the Primary and KS1 curriculum effectively.
  • Support children's development in phonics, reading, writing, and maths.
  • Assess, monitor, and record pupil progress.
  • Differentiate learning to meet individual pupil needs.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment.
  • Promote positive behaviour and strong learning habits.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, parents, carers, and colleagues.
  • Work closely with Teaching Assistants and the wider school team.
  • Support pupils with additional learning needs.
  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding and classroom practice.
Skills, Qualifications & Experience
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching within KS1 is desirable.
  • ECTs are encouraged to apply.
  • Strong knowledge of phonics and the KS1 curriculum.
  • Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • Strong understanding of assessment and pupil progress.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Passion for helping children develop and succeed.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
