Newton Animal Clinic is a well‑established, progressive, fast‑paced multi‑doctor general small animal practice located in Newton, Iowa with a sister clinic in Bondurant, Iowa. We offer services including preventive care, surgery, urgent care, high‑speed dentistry, in‑house diagnostics, digital full‑body and dental radiology, endoscopy, ultrasonography, medical and vacation boarding. Both locations are AAHA certified hospitals.
This position will primarily be based at the Newton location, with occasional shifts learn more about us .
Job DescriptionJob duties include, but are not limited to:
- Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging.
- Management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability.
- Administration of medications and effective communication of treatment plans with clients.
- Surgical preparation and assistance, anesthetic management.
- May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.
Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises.
Qualifications- Veterinary Assistant with a minimum of 1 year experience preferred, but not required.
- Compassionate, calm, team player, multi‑tasker, strong communicator.
- Must be able to properly restrain pets.
- Proficient in sample collection, obtaining medical histories, processing laboratory tests, radiographs, and anesthesia monitoring is a bonus.
- Self‑starter with a desire to continue to advance your knowledge and skillset.
