Senior Automation Engineer Overview
We are seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to design, develop, and optimize automation solutions for new and existing production lines. This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to drive continuous improvement in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities- Design & Development:
Create and implement automation solutions for new and existing production lines. - System Optimization:
Modify and enhance existing automation systems to improve performance and minimize downtime. - Collaboration:
Work closely with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to ensure seamless integration of automation systems. - Programming & Troubleshooting:
Configure and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems using Allen Bradley, Wonderware, and Ignition platforms. - Documentation:
Develop and maintain schematics, programming logic, and operational procedures for automation systems. - Compliance:
Ensure all automation projects meet safety standards and regulatory requirements. - Leadership:
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians. - Continuous Improvement:
Analyze system performance data and implement strategies for ongoing optimization.
- PLC Programming (Allen Bradley, RSLogix)
- HMI Development (Wonderware)
- SCADA Systems (Ignition)
- AutoCAD for design and documentation
- Troubleshooting and problem‑solving in industrial automation
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or related field - Experience:
7 years in industrial automation engineering. - Technical Expertise:
Allen Bradley PLCs, Wonderware, and Ignition SCADA systems; industrial networking, control systems, and instrumentation; robotics integration and motion control systems; - Additional Knowledge: MES systems and data analytics for manufacturing; safety PLCs and machine safeguarding standards;
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Proven ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and manage multiple projects.
Permanent position based in Newton, KS.
