Are you detail-oriented, organized, and passionate about supporting patient care behind the scenes? At NMC Health, we are seeking a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse to serve as a key liaison for our Cardiology services. This role plays an essential part in ensuring timely access to care by managing referrals, pre-certifications, and authorizations while maintaining accuracy, compliance, and excellent communication.
In this position, you will work closely with providers, insurance carriers, and patients to coordinate referrals and authorization requests. You will maintain and update patient information within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system, ensuring all documentation is accurate and complete. Adherence to HIPAA regulations, organizational policies, and payer requirements is critical.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as the primary liaison for patient referrals, pre-certifications, and authorizations
- Collect, verify, and document referral and authorization information accurately
- Submit and track insurance authorization requests and follow up as needed
- Maintain and update patient information within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and organizational policies
- Communicate effectively with providers, insurance carriers, patients, and staff
- Follow established procedures and protocols to support efficient clinic operations
- Maintain punctual attendance and professional conduct
Education
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required
Experience1–2 years of experience with knowledge of cardiology procedures and authorization processes preferred
Knowledge & Skills- Knowledge of normal signs of aging and ability to provide age-appropriate care
- Strong interpersonal skills that enhance communication and promote collaboration
- Proficiency with computers, including spreadsheets and email;
Excel experience preferred - Excellent time management skills with the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Sensitivity and respect toward coworkers, patients, and families
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while using sound judgment
- Willingness to accept responsibility and follow direction
- Ability to navigate electronic medical records with ease
- Knowledge of medical office procedures and workflows
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the State of Kansas required
- CPR / Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
