Position SummaryAssists the Youth Group Leaders in direct supervision of a group of children in a state‑licensed out‑of‑school‑time program operating full‑day programs. Provides a quality experience to children and parents focused on YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

Essential Functions- Assists in supervision of a group of children.
- Assists in implementation of program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate, and consistent with YMCA values.
- Supports academic learning being done remotely by students (in pandemic time if applicable).
- Adheres to YMCA and state (Early Education & Care, EEC) standards including safety and cleanliness.
- Attends staff meetings and training.
- Active support of our DEIB statement and putting into practice our commitment to equity, diversity, belonging and inclusion. Continue to think about strategies to support diversity goals of the organization.
- Follows YMCA and EEC policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
- Maintains positive relations with parents and other staff. Models relationship‑building skills in all interactions.
- When able to, works at special events (i.e., Snow Day Program, Holiday Programs) and vacation week programs, if needed.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and situations requiring first aid and/or CPR.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Previous experience working with children preferred.
- Ability to assist in providing direct care to school‑age children while reinforcing health and safety guidelines.
- Ability to assist in supporting children with their distance learning assignments being done remotely at the YMCA.
- Ability to assist in guiding structured clubs and enrichment activities.
- Commitment to support and further our anti‑racist work as an organization. Learning about our initiatives and the continuous work and being able to vocalize with members if needed.
- Child CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and training within 30 days of hire date.
- EEC training/registration prior to hire date.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
Ability to plan, lead and participate in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings.
