We are hiring Residential Camp Counselor positions for the 2026 Summer season at Camp Frank
A. Day, a co‑ed overnight camp west of Boston in East Brookfield, MA. Camp Frank
A. Day (CFAD) is known for building independence, character, leadership, and a love of nature through a vibrant mix of physical, social, and educational activities.
The Counselor will supervise and lead a group of campers in daily camp activities, create a safe and nurturing environment, and actively support our DEIB commitment.
Essential Functions- Supervise all aspects of the camper’s day (waking, cabin clean‑up, meals, siesta, evening activities, bedtime, overnight duty, after‑hours duty).
- Enforce camp rules, regulations, and policies among peers.
- Participate actively in all camp programs, color war, plaque races, and other events as assigned.
- Teach and assist in activity periods; plan cabin activities with Jr. Counselor and campers.
- Lead nightly reflection for campers.
- Maintain positive public relations with parents, visitors, and the general public.
- Respond to and discuss individual or group problems and concerns.
- Instruct campers in emergency procedures including fire, severe weather, lost camper, and lost swimmer.
- Follow established procedures for supervising camper health and enforcing all safety regulations.
- Perform routine cleaning responsibilities related to the camp’s health and safety protocols.
- Serve as a lifeguard or lookout at the waterfront if qualified.
- Submit all required paperwork on time and demonstrate a willingness to go above and beyond your written job description.
- Prior camp staff experience for at least one year.
- At least 18 years old or have graduated high school.
- Ability and experience in supervising children.
- Commitment to support and further our anti‑racist work; learn about our initiatives and vocalize when needed.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments.
- Reliable, dependable, excellent time‑management skills, and ability to multi‑task.
- Desire and ability to live and work in a camp setting.
- Good role model, high integrity, and adaptable.
- Current First Aid and Adult and Child CPR certifications.
- Hear noises and work in a fast‑paced environment that requires patience, focus, and diligence.
- Meet strength and lifting requirements of 25 lbs.
- See and observe all sections of an assigned zone or area of responsibility.
