Job Overview
Teach fashion design and costuming classes for children in grades 4‑8 at Camp Kaleidoscope, a summer day camp operated by JCC Greater Boston in Newton. The program offers creative workshops that include sewing, jewelry making, sneaker and streetwear design, tie‑dying, up‑cycling, and more, utilizing a variety of equipment such as sewing machines, Cricut, heat presses, and 3D printers.
Key Information- Type:
Seasonal, 8‑week program (June 22 – August 21) - Schedule:
8:30 am – 4:30 pm, Monday‑Friday - Compensation:
Start at $20 per hour, payable hourly; overtime and bonuses may apply. - Benefits:

- Plan, prepare, and lead age‑appropriate fashion design activities.
- Ensure camper safety and well‑being during all activities.
- Create a fun, inclusive, supportive environment that encourages skill building.
- Collaborate with counselors and camp leadership to provide a cohesive camper experience.
- Maintain, organize, and requisition necessary supplies and equipment.
- Adapt activities to meet the needs and abilities of diverse campers.
- Assist with camp‑wide special events, large‑group programming, and overall camp operations as needed.
- Create and maintain a welcoming environment that values all individuals.
- Participate fully as a team member, supporting JCC Greater Boston’s mission and values.
- Represent the organization positively and model excellence in all interactions.
- Attend required meetings and training sessions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma preferred; college degree in musical theater, costume or fashion design a plus.
- At least one summer‑camp or semester‑class instructor experience planning and leading child‑focused activities.
- Portfolio or examples of projects preferred.
- Customer‑service experience desirable.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and group‑management skills.
- Ability to manage risks and maintain safety awareness during activities.
- Creative, flexible, and patient with a positive, energetic attitude.
